Canadian Gets $17,000 Cellphone Bill For Services That Cost Telecom $4

Bell Canada charged customer Perry Franz over $17,000 for services that cost the telecom $4 to provide:

Now is an important time in the effort to force big Canadian telecoms to reform–i.e. stop charging Canadians outrageous fees for services that cost a lot less to provide. With the prospect of a federal election looking very likely, Canadians need to spread the word about the telecoms’ attempt to put a meter on our Internet, as well as their lack of scruples in general. We need to make it an election issue.

So be sure to share the above CBC clip as well as OpenMedia’s petition using Facebook, Twitter, e-mail, etc. A lot of progress has already been made in stopping Internet metering. Let’s keep up the effort and show them we won’t put up with unfair billing any longer.
